The Goods

YAY! I bought some new fabric :) I can't wait to start cutting! Only thing is I make a pact, with myself, that I couldn't cut into the new stuff till the old stuff was made into pretty aprons. This is because once the new is scraps, I'll have to start all over with the mixing and match of Frankenstein scraps to make an apron.
Got some pretty pink tread to match!
Chin up kids, new stuff is on the way!

Pattern Passion

I've gone totally crazy over trying to find cute vintage patterns! I bought two recently that are half aprons. Not sure when I'm going to find time to cut and trace the patterns on to poster board, but its exciting.

This might be a reprint, I don't mind.
Judging from the 35¢ price, I don't think this is a reprint.

'Emily the Eater'

'Emily the Eater'

The awesome sewing machine that I'm using now was an early Christmas gift from my mother. My boyfriend helped me name her Emily. I have since renamed her 'Emily the Eater' and I'll tell you why....

Scraps

Most of my fabric is from other projects I have abandoned or scraps from the projects that miraculously get made. I've been sorting through this to see what I might like to use. A lot of it is totally usable (yay) but the one I'm most excited about is this charming bumble bee print! There is just enough to make one apron, if I got some plain yellow to match. :)

Bizz Bizz!!
Stay tuned for some sketches of the pockets!

'Floral Becomes Her'

I have a new lovely apron to add to the collection. Much like the blue floral, the idea purple (my favorite color) and floral sounds appealing on paper. I must say that I'm not to crazy about it. Surely there is a good home for them all.

Deep purple and purple floral on a peachy background

Back Tracking

I finished a new apron today and started thinking about the other three. I made these with fabric I already had laying around the house. I'm not really fond of the blue floral print, but it was great for working out the kinks in the pattern instructions (which of course are nonsense) and with my new sewing machine. More about that later....
There are two in this solid print style.

The Gift

That's me :)
A picture of the very first apron. My mother gave me this project to make for a friend of ours. It was a little late for her birthday, but she loved it any way.

New Adventure

Hello, my name is Jacqulene Alfaro and I have passion for creating vintage style aprons.  I had made my first apron as a gift for a friend and realized it was something I truly enjoyed doing and since many of my friends and family liked the style, so much I decided to make more. This little hobby grew to something bigger, so I created Betty Lou Fashions. Most of my inspirations come from admiring old and new pin ups, rockabilly/psychobilly music and subculture. My goal is to create a line of aprons that combines these wonderful things.
